Imbolc: An instrumental album by Joe Pisapia
Imbolc is a Celtic word which translates to "in the belly." It is a traditional marking of
time concerning the halfway point between the winter solstice and vernal equinox.
It was during this downtempo time of year that I found the inspiration for this
instrumental album.
I intended to make a record that delivered the same feelings as the cooking playlist that
I had been compiling over the years. But in addition I thought this album would be
good for social gatherings. A high compliment, a most satisfying validation for me,
would be if someone cared enough to a deep personal listen, or a headphone listen.
As a partner to the recordings, I have been filming kitchen recipes to function as the
"music video." While I was hoping for more, there are 4 which have been filmed. Like
many other plans of mice and men, our video capturing got cut short due to the
pandemic.
I hope you enjoy listening as much as I enjoyed the making of it.
